Artist District Treats Me Well

So every third weekend of the month, in this little parking lot hidden inside the vast Downtown LA, the Artist District has a little flea market where artists sell their creations and/or sell vintage items as well.

Here's what ya girl got
I got a necklace, a book On Photography by Susan Sontag, a sketch/note book, and a poetry book Les fleurs du mal by Baudelaire.

I think this necklace is super cool.

The girl who made it makes them directly from her studio in Silver Lake. She dyes fabric and makes clothing out of them. With the leftover scraps, she stretches them over a plate of 14k gold and then attaches them to a gold choker.

My grandma found this and bought it for me. She was really excited. I studied Baudelaire in French class, seems like a cool guy ; the artwork is beautiful. I'm looking forward to reading it.

I got this sketch/note book at this booth where the artists took the covers of old vintage books and then filled them with blank pages. Took keep a piece of the literature alive, they cut out the first page or some pictures or illustrations and pasted them on the front, back, or both inside covers of the sketch/note book.

This book really interested me. The back describes it as a book explaining the connection between photography, art, the conscious, and knowledge. My passion is art and my main interest is psychology, so, I mean, how much more can a book sound interesting to someone like me?!

It's such a cute place, the DJ is AMAZING, everyone is insanely sweet, and the stuff is so worth it! If you live in Los Angeles I highly recommend you get a taste.

Also, did I mention they have delicious food trucks in the back? ;)
